Tom talks baseball to a group of young children and their parents. Some of the parents knew about the existence of the Negro Leagues and wanted to pass this piece of history on to their children.
Through the year, and especially in February, Black History Month, Tom receives speaking invitations from schools and community groups. He also displays and sells his autographed wares. The Kroger stores in the greater Cincinnati area are a favorite haunt of his. This photo and story from a community paper show him at Kroger corporate headquarters. The columnist is a long-time friend of the family who got the call the night before from California to cover the event.
